About SafeBrowsingCheck

SafeBrowsingCheck publishes honest, plain-English guides on staying safe online — written for ordinary readers, especially people aged 45 and up, who want clear answers without the hype or the scare tactics.

Why this site exists

Most online-safety advice is either too technical to act on or built to frighten you into clicking. We do the opposite: we explain the handful of habits that actually reduce your risk, in language you'd use with a friend, and we leave out the busywork that wastes your time. If a worry turns out to be overblown, we say that too — calm is the point.

Who it's for

If you're comfortable online but not "technical," and you'd rather understand a setting than be ordered to change it, you're who we write for. No prior knowledge is assumed, and nothing is dumbed down. Every guide is meant to be read once and acted on in a few minutes.

What you'll find here

Plain guides to the things people over 50 ask about most: spotting scams, public Wi-Fi and VPNs, viruses and malware, protecting your privacy, passwords, and honest reviews of the security tools worth your money. No fear, no acronyms you have to look up.

How we stay honest

We're independent and reader-supported. Some links to the tools we recommend earn us a small commission, at no extra cost to you — but a commission never decides what we recommend, and when something isn't worth your money, we say so plainly. You can read exactly how this works in our affiliate disclosure, and how we judge tools on How We Test.
