Privacy Policy
This is a standard privacy-policy template, not legal advice. Please review it with a professional for your exact setup before launch.
Effective date: January 20, 2024
SafeBrowsingCheck ("we," "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what we collect when you visit safebrowsingcheck.com, why, and the choices you have. For any privacy question, contact us at marta@safebrowsingcheck.com.
Who is responsible for your data
SafeBrowsingCheck is the data controller for the information described here. We are based in Estonia and serve a largely US audience, so this policy reflects both EU (GDPR) and US (including California) expectations.
What we collect
We keep data collection to a minimum:
- Information you give us. If you subscribe to our newsletter, your email address. If you use the contact form or email us, the details you choose to send.
- Information collected automatically. Basic analytics about your visit — pages viewed, approximate region, device and browser type, and how you arrived — collected via Cloudflare Web Analytics (cookieless) and Google Analytics.
- Cookies and similar technologies. See the next section.
Cookies and tracking
We use the cookies needed to run the site. Our visit analytics come from two tools: Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless, and Google Analytics, which may set analytics cookies — those are optional, and you can refuse them. When you click an affiliate link, the partner network may set its own cookie to credit a referral; that is governed by that network's privacy policy, not ours. You can refuse non-essential cookies and manage them in your browser settings.
How we use your information
To operate and improve the site, to send the newsletter if you asked for it, to respond to your messages, to measure traffic in aggregate, and to meet legal obligations. We do not sell your personal information.
Legal bases (GDPR)
We rely on your consent for the newsletter and any non-essential cookies, and on our legitimate interests in running a secure site and understanding aggregate traffic. You can withdraw consent at any time.
Who we share it with
Only the service providers that make the site work — for example our email service provider, our analytics providers (Cloudflare Web Analytics and Google Analytics), and our hosting/CDN provider Cloudflare — and affiliate networks when you choose to click their links. These providers process data on our behalf or under their own policies; we don't sell or rent your data to anyone.
International transfers
Some providers process data in the United States or other countries. Where required, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep it
Newsletter data until you unsubscribe; contact messages for as long as needed to handle your request and a reasonable period after; analytics for up to 12 months.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your data, to object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent. EU/EEA/UK residents may also complain to their data-protection authority. California residents may request to know or delete their information and to opt out of any "sale" (we don't sell data) without being treated differently. To exercise any of these, email marta@safebrowsingcheck.com.
Children
The site is not directed to children, and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
Changes
We'll post any updates here with a new effective date.
